As the school year gets closer to graduation, a lot of seniors are waiting to hear back from their dream college while some are committing to colleges. RudyJanae Hutchinson (12) committed to Stanislaus State.
She chose this college because of its strong nursing program and the opportunities it offers for students interested in healthcare careers. Hutchinson said, “I will be studying forensic nursing and other things in the medical field.”
Another factor that influenced the decision was the location. Being close to home made the college stand out to her the most. Hutchinson said, “I realized I wanted to go to Stanislaus when I saw how close it was to home.”
She explained committing to college is such a meaningful milestone for her family. As the first person in her family to attend college.
She also shared how important her mother’s encouragement was throughout the process. She said, “My mom was a big support through all of this. She helped me realize this college was a good fit for me.”
Although Hutchinson was excited about Stanislaus State, the decision wasn’t easy at first. She talks about how careful she had to be narrowing it down to one college with multiple interests.
Hutchinson said, “My high school experience helped out a lot because I stayed focused, got help that I needed and stayed involved with school activities.” She credits her success to staying committed to her goals throughout high school.
Hutchinson’s future goal is clear to stay motivated and work towards a career in the medical field. She said, “My goal is to stay focused and achieve every milestone I set for myself to make sure I get the career I want.”
She hopes Stanislaus State will provide the tools and will provide specialized academic training and hands-on experiential learning to help her succeed.
She also hoped Stanislaus would give her the opportunity to meet new people and become friends with them and see what college experience is all about.
Hutchinson gives advice to any younger student that is thinking about college. She said, “Don’t just attend college just to go make sure It has everything you want to major in to help benefit you.”
If you see Hutchinson make sure to congratulate her on committing to Stanislaus State.
