The annual May Day Fair took place from April 29 to May 3, filling the area with rides, food, attractions, and live performances on the main stage. The event brought in large crowds throughout the week, giving families and friends a chance to enjoy different activities, entertainment, and time together. Many visitors also enjoyed carnival games, local vendors, and the fair’s bright lights and activity at night.
Many people described the event as a fun experience overall, especially enjoying the food, attractions, and stage performances. However, some also noticed differences compared to last year.
Jaylene Barriga (12) said her favorite part of the fair was seeing the animals shown through FFA programs. The animal exhibits and student projects attracted many people throughout the week and remained one of the fair’s most popular attractions.
“I really enjoyed the fair and watching our chapter show. My favorite part of the fair every year is the Tri-Tip sandwiches and going on the rides with my friends,” Barriga said. She added that she enjoyed the fair overall but wished there were more rides this year, especially since the Zipper ride was removed.
Along with the rides and food stands, the fair also had live entertainment on the main stage that brought large crowds each night. Many students spent their evenings walking around the fairgrounds, attending performances, and enjoying the attractions with friends.
Jordan Incaprera (12) said he enjoyed the fair’s attractions and spending time walking around with friends. He also attended a Morgan Wallen inspired stage performance.
“I liked the animals and the stage show, but I think last year had more going on and more rides,” Incaprera said.
Food vendors and carnival attractions continued to be some of the busiest parts of the fair throughout the week. From funnel cakes and lemonade to games and rides, visitors had a variety of activities to enjoy while spending time together.
Alexis Vega (12) said her favorite part of the fair was spending time with friends while enjoying the food, rides, and attractions. She said this year felt smaller, with fewer rides and higher prices, but she still enjoyed the overall experience.
“It was still really fun, especially with friends, but last year felt bigger with more rides and options,” Vega said.
Even with mixed opinions, the May Day Fair brought the community together for a week of food, fun, and local entertainment while giving people a chance to come together, make memories, and enjoy a local tradition that continues to bring the community closer each year.
