National Child Abuse Awareness Month

Hailey Yates, Staff Reporter

April is child abuse awareness month. Child abuse is when a parent or guardian, whether through action or failing to act, causes injury, death, emotional harm or risk of serious harm to a child. There are many different forms of child abuse, including neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, exploitation and emotional abuse.

Over 700,00 cases of child abuse occur each year in America. Every 10 seconds a child abuse report is placed. Also 1 in every 30 children experience homelessness annually.

An easy way to help contribute to this cause is at In-N-Out! In-N-Out has a burger foundation that greatly contributes to child abuse awareness month.  In-N-Out will match every dollar you contribute with three of their own for up to $250,000. You can donate in store or online on the In-N-Out website. All the money raised is given right back to the communities.

The purpose of the In-N-Out burger foundation is to assist children who have been victims of child abuse, and to prevent others from suffering from a similar case. The In-N-Out foundation supports organizations that provide residential treatment, emergency shelter, foster care, and early intervention for children in need.
