On September 8th, Los Banos High School had their first home football game. Students filled the Tiger Pride section for the 27-7 win against Golden Valley.  Students who attended the game showed tremendous school spirit between cheers, chalk dust, and Tiger spirit attire.

Students started the night with a tailgate before the game where they barbecued steaks, hot dogs, and hamburgers. At the tailgate, the students listened to music and ate food to get pumped for the game. They later headed out to the game with spirit and enthusiasm.

At the game, most of the students sit in the tiger pride section to cheer on the football team. They had  chants and sang songs together to support their football players. The game against DP on September 15 had a big turn out too where students were “tigered” out and ready for the night.

At the Friday Night Rivalry game the crowd was pumped. Junior Trent Mallonee, creator of the 12th man explains,” I started the 12th man to bring us together as a school and to show some Tiger Pride for our football team.”  The Tiger Pride has dramatically changed in a good way since the previous years with 12th man. Co-creator, Zac Little, 11,  said that,” It gets the people more involved and being together, it helps increase everyone’s spirit as a whole.”

Creating the 12th man was a great move by these two juniors for getting more people involved and producing more team spirit. They are talking about continuing 12th man in different sports throughout the school year. The 12th man is basically a group that supports the football team. They are called 12th man because there is only 11 people allowed on the field, so the 12th man is the group that is supposed to pick up the team when they are tired, like a mental substitute.

If you are interested in boosting the school spirit at school games, do not be afraid to sit in the student section and show your tiger pride.   Keep your ears open for the next tailgate party before the next game.
