High Demand for McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce

McDonald’s brought back an old sauce from the 1990’s. This Szechuan dipping sauce was made to promote the movie, Mulan, and had a limited time offer before it was discontinued.

Just recently, the sauce made an appearance on, Rick and Morty. The show inspired many viewers to email McDonald’s asking the company to offer the sauce again. McDonald’s complied on October 7 offering a limited supply to select restaurants.

Although this was a good idea,  the company underestimated the demand and many people were left without any sauce at their local venues.  People stood in long lines waiting for their turn to purchase the product.  Unfortunately, at some locations, police were contacted to deal with fans that were left without sauce. A fan even came to the US from Canada to get a pack of sauce and was left with nothing.

People posted on various online sites asking for anyone to tell them where the closest sauce was to them and if anyone would be willing to share.  Buyers even looked at online buying sites like Ebay to get their hands on some of this special sauce. The cost started at $285.

This event was such a bad turnout that McDonald’s is having another comeback of this sauce in the winter. This time it will have a much larger supply compared to this recent batch.
