Donations Needed for California Wildfire Victims

FFA Department Collecting Items

The FFA department is collected food and clothing donations for families affected by the recent fires in California.

Since October 8, northern California, specifically Napa and Santa Rosa, have had a series of wildfires that have turned towns into ashes. Wildfires are still continuing to burn down structures in northern town and cities even after weeks of trying to contain the fire.

According to Cal Fires, the California Wildfires have killed 42 people and have destroyed 8,400 structures, including buildings and parks. Even though the fires have continued to burn down structures, 90% of the wildfires have been contained.

With northern Californian towns being destroyed by the wildfires, survivors do not know where to go, especially with their houses being burnt down. Some survivors have decided to stay in their towns and live in tents. Even though some survivors are staying, many of survivors have decided to leave and go to a different town, causing overcrowding in towns and cities in the north, like Monte Rio.

With northern California towns and cities being damaged by the wildfires, organizations like GoFundMe and YouCaring have decided to help by volunteering.

Senior Manuel Martinez feels that it is good that the FFA program is helping in donating towards the victims of the California wildfires. Martinez said, “It’s good that Los Banos is helping those who have been affected by the wildfire.”

Natascha Price, senior, feels everyone as a school should contribute towards the victims of the California wildfire. Price said,” The help that FFA is giving towards the victims is very appreciated.” Price feels that it is unfortunate the victims have to leave their towns.
