Boys Basketball, So Far Undefeated

The LBHS boys varsity basketball team had a foundation game against Pacheco. LBHS ended up winning 53-37. They are still in preseason, but are undefeated so far. The team even won first place at the 75th Annual Gustine Tournament on November 30 -December 2.

Mr. Kevin Coleman, the varsity basketball coach has high expectations for this year’s basketball team and that is to “compete for league and go to playoffs.” Coleman believes his team is doing pretty good and is proud of them.

Although Coleman believes the team is doing pretty good, he thinks there’s room for improvement on everything. Coleman adds that he would like more fans to come out and support the boys, and he mentions that their next home game is on January 3rd against Johansen.

LBHS senior, Cameron Gomez, and junior, Trent Mallonee are the captains of the team. Gomez enjoys being captain so far, but says there’s a lot of pressure on him due to their good start in the season. Both Mallonee’s and Gomez’s goal for their team is to make playoffs and win a playoff game since the team hasn’t made playoffs for basketball for a long time. Trent believes that their team needs to improve on staying focused throughout the season. As for Gomez, he says, “Our communication and some of our egos can improve. Other than that we dem boiz. #JetPackGang.”

The boys varsity basketball team overall is ready for the season and excited to see how they do. Make sure to come out and support them on their next home game on January 3rd.
