Los Banos High School welcomes a new CP Biology teacher, Mr. Michael Salaz. Mr. Salaz was born in Salinas, California on March 7 and moved to Los Banos when he was only three.

He also went to Los Banos High School, graduating in 2014. “I enjoyed seeing my old teachers and being able to ask them for help even after high school,” he explained. “Learning is a never-ending process, and we have some awesome teachers at our school.”

In high school he was always intrigued with biology.  Since he worked at the San Luis Wildlife Refuge, he knew that from the start, he wanted to be involved in the science department.

“I knew I wanted to pursue a career in biology, although I wasn’t certain on the occupation. I thought about being a veterinarian, a wildlife biologist, and a biology teacher. The rest is history,” he noted.

He attended UC Merced, and was a substitute in Los Banos for about a year and a half. This is his first year teaching, and has enjoyed his year, and is excited to continue developing and growing as a teacher.

In his free time, he enjoys exploring the outdoors, hiking, and fishing. He also plays the guitar and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Stop by room 401 and say hi!
