Top 5 Christmas movies of all times

Angelica Sanchez, Staff Reporter

We all love watching Christmas movies in December for the Christmas holiday. Well, here’s the top 5 Christmas movies of all time.

Number one, Home Alone. We’ve seen it almost 100 times, but it can take start the Christmas spirit with each viewing. It’s a classic for every age, and it never gets old. Kevin is a smart 8 year old boy who acted out the night before a family trip to Paris. His mother makes him sleep in the attic. After his family mistakenly leaves for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement to be alone changes when he realizes that two men plan to rob them, and that he is alone and must protect the family home.

Number two, Elf. Every year, everyone must watch it at least once. There are so many things to reference in Elf, so many golden lines that people remember at other times of the year, and they can really feel the spirit of Christmas that the movie gives. Buddy is the name of the Elf; Buddy was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father.

Number three, A Christmas Story. A good heart warming Christmas family classic. Ralphie Parker is a boy who dodging a bully and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Frequently at odds with his dad but comforted by his mother, Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact.

Number four, It’s a Wonderful Life. George Bailey is a guy who has so many problems; he is thinking about ending it all and it’s Christmas! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence who then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all his good deeds over the years.

And number five, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Whos, an almost mutated sort of small people. All the Whos love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. The Grinch is a nasty creature that hates Christmas, and plots to steal it away from the Whos which he equally disgusts. Yet a small child, Cindy Lou Who, decides to try befriend the Grinch.

I recommend these movies for the Christmas holiday coming up! Merry Christmas Tigers!
