Taking the SAT can be very stressful and tiring if you plan to attend a CSU or UC University.

When it comes to preparing for this test, it takes studying if students wish to receive a good score.

A few tips might help with improving scores.  The first tip is to brush up on your grammar. Although students might hate the thought of learning grammar, it is one of the easiest topics to improve on when preparing for this test.

Another tip is to practice your math skills on Khan Academy, along with other sites as well. This website provides students with multiple free SAT prep tests personalized just for their needed skills and various lessons to choose from.

As the test day approaches, it is good to increase the amount of study time to become less nervous and be more prepared.

Another good tip is to eliminate three wrong answers while taking the test. This is called the process of elimination. With this process, students have a better chance to get the correct answer and receive points. An interesting fact is that the “NO CHANGE” will only be the answer for about 25% of the questions when it’s an option.

The next tip is commonly said by many people:  Skip difficult questions. Lingering on the difficult questions can cost students time and easy points if they do not continue.

The next SAT will be held here at Los Banos High School on Saturday March 9, 2019.

Students should get everything ready the night before so the day of, they are not scrambling to get everything together. On test day, after a certain time, if students are late, they will not be allowed to take the SAT. Students need to bring their admission ticket, a photo ID, 2 #2 pencils, an eraser, and a calculator.

In addition snacks and water for break to munch on would help students to keep working. Putting everything in your bag the day before will save some stress and help you not forget anything. Don’t forget to get a good night sleep and not be late!
