Marijuana is thee most used illicit drug around the world. People smoke marijuana, also known as weed, because its an escape from their own realities and for medical purposes. Do we really know what happens to our bodies when we inhale the cannabis smoke?

Marijuana refers to the dried up flowers from cannabis sativa or cannabis indica. The two sativa and indica strain deliver two completely different effects, and the strength that it carries depends on the quality of the bud. Sativa strains deliver a more hyper active effect which help you concentrate, stay awake, makes you very very aware of your surroundings, but drain you of energy towards the end of the effects, preferable smoked during the day. Indica strains are more for a night of relaxation whether you want to go on a relaxing cruise or just simply help you go to sleep. But do we really know if this ¨drug¨ is safe and will not be cause of future illnesses?

Marijuana effects the early brain development, once you inhale the substance it messes with your brain receptors which causes the ¨high¨ effect. This is mostly found within the young under the age of 21 when the brain is young and is still development, the older don´t have to worry about this because their brains have developed but we still don´t completely fully understand the drug. When using the drug as a teen, the drug may impair their thinking and learning functions and affect how the brain develops; it can even decline your general knowledge and your verbal ability, in a way it can impair your thinking.

According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse,  ¨a study from New Zealand conducted in part by researchers at Duke University showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and had an ongoing marijuana use disorder lost an average of eight IQ points between ages 13 and 38.¨

Marijuana is still new to the field of science even though it has been around for years, new studies of the drug are constantly being found and don’t know how it will effect the human mind or body in several years from when you first began to use the drug. If you´re thinking about using the drug, it is better to just stay away from it.
