Brahms: The Boy II is a sequel to the 2016 movie, The Boy. It was released to box office theaters February 21, 2020, and I recently went to go see it with my friends. This movie is about a young boy which finds a doll that he quickly becomes attached to. His parents first accept this, but then they soon notice the weird behavior of their son because of the doll. The parents try to get rid of Brahms but this just makes him mad which starts drama within the family.

Brahms: The Boy II  has a running time of one hour and 26 minutes. It was definitely a good amount of time for this movie, and I did not feel like it was too long or too short. There are only  four main actors in this movie which include Katie Holmes, Ralph Ineson, Owain Yeoman, and Christopher Convery. The only same person that was in both movies was the Brahms doll.

In this movie the son is selective mute because he was traumatized in a home invasion with the mom. This added detail is not that necessary just because it is not that important to the plot. The only way it plays in is when the doll helps the son express himself more, which is why the parents allowed him to keep it. Other than that it was not that important

As someone who does not scared easily, I would have to say that this movie was more eerie and creepy rather than scary. There was a few jump scares throughout the movie but it was mostly just the doll moving and doing things on its own. It was not gory either; it just had an almost deadly fall caused by Brahms and Brahm’s decaying body towards the end of the movie but nothing worse than that.

Overall, I would rate this movie a 6.5 out of 10 just because it was not that scary. I like watching scary movies and this was just more of a thriller movie. The first movie was definitely better than this second movie. The first movie, The Boy, is available to watch on Netflix. Brahms: The Boy 2, is available to watch at Los Banos Premiere Cinemas.
