The members of S Club have announced that they are organizing a can food, coat, and blanket drive. This drive has now started and each of them have a certain deadline. Can foods will be going on until November 21 and the coats and blankets will be until December 19.
S Club has been running this drive for the past four years. The club has been inspired by the understanding of the community’s needs. A challenge the club faces is gathering enough supplies to help as many people as possible.
Club Advisor Miguel Herra said, “It’s always a challenge when doing these drives, but despite the challenge S Club still has a goal this year.” This year the club aims to collect around 250 canned foods, and 90 blankets, coats, or sweaters.
S Club is promoting this drive through social media and posters around the school to meet their goal. The collected canned foods will be donated to “Stuff the Bus.” The campaign, organized by The Bus, the Merced County Food Bank, and United Way of Merced County.
S Club encourages donating gently used coats, nonperishable food items, and blankets. If interested in helping there are donating boxes in the following classes Mr. Stephen Kline (55), Mr. Ulises Gonzalez (4) , Mrs. Veronica Seaborn (22), Mrs. Alexandria Montiel (512), Mr. Miguel Herrera (38) , and Mr. Joshua Smith (54) classrooms.
The club hopes this drive will provide individuals in the community with warmth this holiday season. If you have any questions see Mr. Herrera room 38.
