The Los Banos FFA kicked off the spring semester by holding its annual monthly chapter meeting on January 12. Members gathered with excitement as the chapter officially launched the Valentine’s Day season with one of its most anticipated traditions, the FFA Sweetheart candidate elections.
The FFA Sweetheart has been a long-standing tradition within the Los Banos FFA. The Sweetheart was established to raise funds for the chapter by selling carnation flowers to the community. Over the years, the Sweetheart fundraiser transitioned to a balloon fundraiser. It has become a symbol of the chapter’s connection to the community, as supporters purchase Valentine’s balloons to help fund events, conferences, and opportunities for members. Since its beginning, the fundraiser has continued to grow and remains one of the chapter’s most successful annual traditions.
This year, three outstanding members are running for the title of Los Banos FFA Sweetheart. The candidates include Jazmine Rodriguez (9), Suri Ramirez (9), and Zoey Wooten (12). Each candidate will be working hard to raise money for the chapter by selling balloons. Individual heart balloons are priced at $4, while a bundle of five balloons is available for $20. Balloon sales will end February 6, 2026.
The winner of the Sweetheart title will be announced at the annual Sweetheart Dinner on February 17. Tickets for the dinner are for sale on the Los Banos High School webpage. Los Banos FFA is incredibly grateful for the continued support shown by the community year after year. The chapter encourages everyone to purchase a heart balloon, as it makes a meaningful decoration or a thoughtful gift for a loved one during the season of hearts.
