Drama Club members, Isaiah La Fuente (12), Paige Deeming (12), and Sara Sowersby (12) have written a play all their own for the school’s spring production.
The play is about three factions that are racing to find a written artifact called the tome. This artifact will give them the secret to take over the world who will get it: the wizard, outlaws, or the royals.
Drama Club is a safe space where students can bounce off ideas with one another, try out new character roles, and experiment with acting techniques. These seniors found themselves in this writing role as just a normal role to do as their last contribution to high school.
Writing a play is challenging, but fun as well. La Fuente said, ¨I wanted to see how different fictional characters would interact with one another.”
Sowersby said, “When writing the play, I felt happy because I was involved in the writing process for the play along with my peers Isaiah and Paige.”
The writing process of a play is a hard one, many give up on themselves when they make a mistake, but these three pushed past that so they can put on something that they are proud of.
All three writers are optimistic about the success of the play. Deeming said, “I think the play will go smoothly and I also think the audience will have a good time.¨
The rehearsals for the play have been going good, and the designs for the sets are in the process of being built and painted.
Ms. Alyssa Zorra, Drama teacher, said her involvement in the play is limited. “I’m just an overseer of the play. I have very little say in the play.¨
The production is scheduled for Feb 25,26,27, and March 1. Entrance will be free
