The girls Varsity Softball is in full swing. They are now in their third round of games and are ready to come out strong for their last couple of games.
Mya Arista (12) is a senior on the girls varsity team. She’s been on varsity all four years of her high school career. Arista has been playing softball since she was seven years old. Arista is a captain this year and is a really good friend to her teammates. She always has a good attitude and is a good example to her teammates.
Arista said, “My favorite part about playing softball is being able to hangout with my friends everyday and just overall the competitive aspect of the game.”
Arista has one homerun this year and nine hits this season. Arista has been playing for 10 years.
“I started playing softball when I was 7 years old.” Arista can play anywhere on the field. “I’m a utility player, but I primarily pitch.” For the past 11 years, she plays on Bases Academy’s travel ball team when the high school season is not in action. With such dedication to the sport over most of her school career, Arista wants to go far with softball after high school.
“The plan is to play in college, but I haven’t decided which one I wanted to commit to at the moment.”
“My season has had some ups and downs, but overall there has been a lot of good that has come out of it.” Softball is a team sport and Arista really helps out her team on and off the field. It’s hard to stay motivated during tough games.
“During tough games, I try to stay motivated by giving myself a moment to breathe before I jump right back into the game.” Arista also starts every game on her team.
Their next home game is on April 17 at 4 p.m. against Merced.
