Balancing school, sports, and personal life is not easy, but for Khazi Aguinaldo, volleyball has become more than just a game, it is a major part of who he is. Having played volleyball for two years, he has grown into a dedicated and hardworking student athlete who values teamwork, discipline, and staying positive.
Aguinaldo was inspired to start playing after seeing the strong chemistry within the volleyball team. Looking back, he said, “I always longed for a chemistry like that,” and it motivated him to become part of something bigger than himself. That experience pushed him to become not only a better player, but also a better teammate, someone others could trust and rely on.
On the court, Aguinaldo plays as an outside hitter, middle blocker, and occasionally the back row. He enjoys these positions because they allow him to contribute in different ways and challenge himself in multiple areas of the game.
Like many student athletes, Aguinaldo said one of the hardest parts is “keeping up with grades while playing at away games.” Balancing practices, games, and assignments can be stressful but he stays organized by making sure to finish his schoolwork before leaving for a game. “I balance it by finishing schoolwork before I leave for a game,” he explained.
His favorite subject in school is English, which he says stands out the most for him academically. Even with the busy schedule of being an athlete, he makes academics a priority.
When practices get tough or losses happen, Aguinaldo stays motivated by keeping an optimistic mindset, “I stay optimistic and try ti help my teammates stay optimistic,” he shared. It is a small but meaningful reminder of support that helps him feel more confident before stepping onto the court.
Through volleyball, Aguinaldo continues to show dedication, resilience, and leadership. In the classroom or on the court, he proves that success comes from hard work, balance, and believing in the people around you.
