The Girls Golf season came to a close on October 16 with their final match and Senior Night against Merced High School. Seniors Alexandra Torres, Mia Duran, Angelina Borelli, and Taetum Cardenas competed in their last game, marking a memorable end to their high school golf journey.
It was a bittersweet evening for the seniors as they reflected on their season and the reality that graduation is quickly approaching. Senior Angelina Borelli shared, “Though it was my first year competing, I had an amazing time and learned so much from my coaches and teammates.”
For some seniors, this season was their first experience on the golf course. Alexandra Torres expressed, “Though this was my first time on a golf course, I learned a lot and can’t wait to golf again.”
While golf may appear easy to outsiders, the players emphasized how demanding the sport truly is, both mentally and physically. Borelli added, “Golf demands a lot of discipline and patience, and we had to walk the course all day, which made it physically demanding too.”
Despite challenges throughout the season, the seniors agreed that golf has been a valuable experience that taught them important life skills they’ll carry beyond high school. Mia Duran, who has played for two years, reflected, “All the girls played well. Though we lost the meet, senior nights never seem real, but I know that everything I learned in golf will help me be successful in the future.”
The team faced a rebuilding year, with new coaches and many first-time players, but they showed growth and resilience throughout the season. Although this year’s record wasn’t filled with wins, the future looks bright for this young and motivated team.
