After a season filled with hard work the volleyball team made their way into playoffs. Despite more losses than wins the team had 8 wins for their overall record. Their first playoff game was against Lathrop where they won 3-1.
The team reflects on how far they’ve come and the strong bond they build throughout the season. From long practices, and intense games the team had really put in their best effort every game.
What makes this team special is the family-like bond they share. Kaia Nuno (10) said, “They never gave up on each other and stuck with one another no matter what.” Whether players were on the bench not playing, or on the court playing it did not affect how they cheered on their teammates and were there for them.
When it comes to losses, the team didn’t let it bring them down. Instead Kanin Welch (12) said they would “huddle after the games and talk about what they think went wrong that game.” This mindset would help them to be ready for future games.
For many of the seniors, this season was about proving how much they’ve grown throughout the years. Welch said her biggest goal was to “be better than last year” and she feels she accomplished that by putting in the extra work at practice and on the side with training.
Alexis Vega’s (12) biggest goal as a senior was to play her best to her ability and as captain tried to make sure her team had good energy entering the court. Their dedication showed not only in their performance but also in the way they encouraged each other on and off the court.
As the seniors prepare to move on, their effort has helped them make it to the playoffs. Win or lose this season was filled with hard working girls, and for that hard work, it has paid off.
