Winter break basketball is looking exciting for the Los Banos Tigers, with a lot of big games coming up. The Tigers will start off the break by playing in the Hilmar Tournament, which includes Hilmar, Summerville, Orestimba, Ripon. Right after that, the JV/Varsity Boys Basketball Christmas Classic Tournament begins on December 18, giving the team a great way to kick off winter break. These tournaments are important because they help the team get better and prepare for CCC league play.
Jacob Camorillo (12) shared what he expects from the team during the break. “My expectations as a team are to work hard and build our chemistry through the preseason and break. Through this tournament, we will sharpen our skills and get stronger physically and mentally.”
After struggling last season and finishing 1–9 in the CCC, the Tigers are coming into this year motivated and ready to prove people wrong. They know there will be challenges during the regular season, but their main goal is to compete and improve as a team.
Jayden Howard (11) talked about how important teamwork will be over the break. “We can better ourselves individually over this break, but the real question is if we can do that as a team. My goal is for us to sharpen each other and improve our skill and chemistry together.”
The Tigers will get their first chance to show their progress when they face Ripon to start tournament play. Expectations are high from players, parents, students, and coaches, and the team knows they still have a lot to work on.
Coach Kieth Jones shared their goal for the team this season, “My goal is for this team to love playing and enjoy the game, while still staying disciplined and learning together. I believe we can go far this year because of our chemistry and talent. Through this break, my expectations are really high.”
As winter break goes on, the big question is whether the Tigers can come together and overcome the challenges they’ll face in the CCC. Their offseason games will show just how much they’ve grown and how ready they are for what’s next.
