Senior thrower Gustavo Ruiz is making his mark as he prepares for his final track and field season.
Having competed for three years, Ruiz has steadily developed into the best thrower on the team, earning recognition for both his talent and leadership. What began as a new challenge during his early high school years has grown into a passion that now defines his athletic career.
Ruiz’s dedication in practice has set him apart. Day after day he pushes himself to improve his strength, technique and consistency in the throwing events. His coaches praise his work ethic noting how he constantly looks for ways to refine his performance. That determination has helped him outperform competitors and set the standard for the rest of the team.
As a senior Ruiz understands that his role goes beyond winning meets. He sees himself as a mentor to the young athletes who are just beginning their track journey. “I’m ready for this season and just excited to show the young guys how its done,” Ruiz said. His confidence reflects the preparation he has put in during the off season.
Ruiz also has big goals for his final year. “This year I’m looking to go to the state championship,” he said with his experience, drive, and competitive mindset, Ruiz is determined to make his senior season unforgettable and leave a lasting legacy.
