For many graduating swimmers, senior night was both an emotional and meaningful moment as they reflected on their years of dedication to the sport and their team.
Throughout the event, seniors were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and the impact they made on the team. Coaches, teammates, and family members gathered to celebrate their achievements and the commitment they showed throughout their high school swimming careers.
Anthony Garcia (12) has been a dedicated member of the swim team since his freshman year, building not only his skills in the water, but also lasting memories along the way. Over the years, he has grown to truly enjoy the sport, finding it both challenging and rewarding with every meet.
As his senior season comes to a close, he reflects on his journey with gratitude and knows he will deeply miss being part of the team and the sport that shaped him into the athlete he is today.
“It’s surprising how fast four years have passed. One day I’m preparing to participate in the 500, and the next I’m getting ready to say goodbye to this sport. I’m going to miss the support and encouragement from my coaches and teammates,” Garcia said.
Zander Gonzalez (12) has been part of the swim team for the past two years, making the most of his time in the pool. Throughout his experience, he has pushed himself to grow, taking on the challenges of the sport while building strong connections with his teammates.
As he prepares to move on from high school, Gonzalez is focused on taking the next step in his journey by pursuing his education in college and embracing the opportunities that lie ahead.
“Even though I wasn’t in the sport for long, I’m truly grateful for everything Ms. Todd did for me. Her support and guidance are something that I’ll carry beyond the pool,” Gonzalez said.
Mia Duran (12) has established herself as a dedicated leader both in and out of the pool. As captain of the water polo team and a four year member of the swim program, she has consistently set the standard through her work ethic, determination, and positive attitude.
Over the years, Duran has become more than just a strong athlete. She’s a source of motivation and unity, leaving a lasting impact on everyone around her.
“People think the hardest part of the sport is swimming, but honestly, waking up for morning practice was the real challenge, even if I lost to my alarm clock sometimes,” Duran said.
After the ceremony, seniors returned to their events determined to give their best. Their performances reflected their dedication and left a lasting impression on younger teammates.
Senior night was more than just a celebration, but a meaningful send off and a memorable close to one chapter, before a new one begins.
