Los Banos High School is currently undergoing major renovations and campus improvements aimed at modernizing the school for current and future students. Construction began at the start of the 2025–2026 school year and has continued throughout the year, with the project expected to last approximately three years.
The renovations include major upgrades and additions across campus. Many of these changes are considered necessary due to the age of several school facilities and the increasing need to support modern technology and improve overall campus safety. School officials say the improvements will help the campus better meet the needs of today’s students while creating a cleaner and more updated learning environment.
“At our school, some of our facilities are aging and in need of modernization. Most older buildings aren’t made for the technology of today, and updating them can ensure better overall safety,” said Principal Jason Waltman.
For years, parts of the campus have shown signs of wear and needed attention. Problems such as mold in the boys’ locker room and sections of the gym, along with peeling paint and aging concrete, highlighted the need for upgrades. The renovations are expected to improve both the appearance and functionality of the campus.
One of the first major additions is a new front office building. Besides improving the overall appearance of the school, the new office will also increase campus security by creating a single-entry point for visitors, helping provide a safer environment for students and staff.
“Some things I’m very intrigued about are the extension of the concession stand to our gym, which was very needed, and the new locker rooms for students and players, giving off better vibes and a cleaner environment,” said Mrs. Pamala Snively, learning director. “The outside renovations are what I think are going to make our school really pop, giving parents a sense of comfort where they can leave their kids.”
As construction continues over the next several years, the renovations are expected to create a safer, cleaner, and more modern campus for everyone at Los Banos High School. Students, staff, and parents alike are expected to benefit from the improvements, while the overall project aims to better represent both the school and the city of Los Banos.
