On and off the court, senior Sabrina Reynoso (12) gives her best effort every day. As a member of the Varsity tennis team, she is known for her focus, teamwork, and positive attitude.
Reynoso started playing tennis three years ago. “I decided to join the team because I had never done a sport and wanted to see if that experience was something I enjoyed,” she said.
Her favorite part about being on the team is the support she gets from her teammates and coaches. “I love being around everyone and having fun while playing instead of taking each match too seriously,” she said.
Before a big match, Reynoso listens to music to calm her nerves. “I try not to get in my head, because that only worsens how I play,” she shared.
Balancing school and tennis can be tough, especially while taking AP classes, but Reynoso stays organized and focused. “I use pride time to catch up on any assignments I miss,” she explained. “I make to-do lists and complete my homework before practice too.”
Her days are busy during tennis season. “Every Tuesday and Thursday, I leave after the fourth period for matches. We usually get home around 7:30 after stopping for dinner,” she said.
Sometimes, things can feel overwhelming. “There have definitely been moments where I felt like I had too much to do,” Reynoso said. “But my family, teachers, and coaches always support me.”
Tennis has taught Reynoso many lessons. “Coach Barcellos taught me that consistency is key,” she said. “In order to achieve your goals, you can’t give up halfway through, you have to put in all your effort until the end.”
While her tennis journey is over, Reynoso will carry these lessons with her beyond high school.
