Recently Tigers welcomed Mr. Steve Torres to our school as our new security guard. While he’s new to this school, he’s not new to the security role in our town.
Torres, a graduate of the Class of 1989 and a longtime resident of Los Banos claims to be the original Steve Torres came to our school not only to keep us safe, but also to build a relationship with the students. He said, “Getting to know you guys is the best part of working security.”
Torres’s background in security is extensive. He started off working as a substitute security throughout our district. He then previously worked at Pacheco and Creekside gaining the experience and understanding on how to keep our school safe.
Torres’s involvement doesn’t stop there. Beyond his security duties, he is very involved in Creekside athletic programs.
He coaches baseball and this past year, he coached girls basketball for the first time. You may even recognize his voice as the announcer at our school’s football games.
Don’t assume that security work is easy work. Torres wants everyone to know that “there’s more to security than just sitting around.” They put in work everyday to make sure to keep our campus safe.
His favorite part about being a part of our school community is getting to show his Tiger Pride. Make sure if you see him around to give him a welcome. We are so happy to have him a part of our school.
