Sebastian Puente (11) is a dedicated multi-sport athlete who has built his identity around competition, discipline, and passion for the game. Participating in football, soccer, and track, Puente has developed a well-rounded athletic profile, with soccer being his longest commitment-playing for an impressive eight years.
Like many young athletes, Puente’s journey began with inspiration from the pros. “What got me started in sports was definitely watching the pros play professionally and wanting to be like them growing up,” he said. That early motivation has carried over into his own performance across all three sports.
On the football field, Puente takes on the role of kicker, a position he enjoys for both its uniqueness and physical benefits. “I play kicker because it’s fun and gets me stronger legs,” he explained. In soccer, he plays center back, embracing the responsibility of defense and protecting his team’s goal. His versatility extends to track and field, where he competes in the 100-meter sprint as well as long jump, triple jump, and high jump.
One of Puente’s proudest moments came during a football game when he “scored his first field goal,” a milestone that reflects his growth and confidence as an athlete.
Balancing academics and athletics can be challenging, and Puente is honest about that struggle. “The hardest part about being a student athlete is definitely trying to balance out grades and practices at the same time,” he shared.
Still, he finds ways to stay motivated, emphasizing recovery and resilience, “Rest after the work and recovery, then going harder in the next practice or game.”
Before competitions, Puente prepares mentally and physically with a consistent routine. “A pre-game ritual I have is definitely eating food and listening to music, observing the battlefield,” he said, highlighting his focused mindset.
Above all, Puente credits his inspiration to those closest to him. “Who inspires me most are God and my parent because doing this for them makes me wanna strive even further.”
With determination, passion, and a drive to improve, Sebastian Puente continues to make his mark as a standout student-athlete.
